PNG Gardener Justin Tkatchenko is the newly elected Member for Moresby – South. The Social Democratic Party candidate polled over 8,000 votes ahead of his nearest rival.
He is the second SDP candidate to be declared following the declaration of Joseph Yopyopy, Member elect for Wosera – Gaui.
Returning Officer for Moresby – South Moka Havara said counting for the Electorate had minor hiccups; however, it was one of the peaceful counting period.
Jubilant winner, PNG Gardener and People’s Democratic Party Member Justin Tkatchenko attributed his win to the people of Moresby – South. And every emotional, the outspoken TV personality couldn’t hold back his tears.
People’s Democratic Party Leader and NCD sitting Governor Powes Parkop pledged his commitment to develop Moresby – South which he says is one of the least developed in NCD.
Justin Tkatchenko since the start of counting continued to maintain a commanding lead, right-up to the 27th elimination. He polled 13, 143 votes, passing the absolute majority of 12, 226.
His supporters and scrutineers also celebrated the victory.
