Health staff struggling to cope with rapid birth increase

Alarming statistics from Lae’s Angau hospital with statistics showing that the birth rate has been steadily increasing by a thousand each year.

Four years ago, Angau’s annual birth rate was 4000 per annum. This year, 8000 babies are expected to be delivered.   

Hospital staffs say they are struggling to cope with the increase in births.
