Oil search limited is pleased to announce the appointment of prominent Papua New Guinean Leon Buskens as its General Manager for Finance – PNG.
Mr Buskens, who has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy from the PNG University of Technology in Lae and a Master of Finance from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, will commence work with the company in July.
He will manage Oil Search’s PNG finance team, based in Port Moresby.
Announcing the appointment, Oil Search Limited’s Executive General for PNG and sustainability, Mr Gerea Aopi said Mr Buskens is joining the company with an impressive track record gained over many years.
Most recently, Mr Busken’s was the inaugural chief executive officer of the National Petroleum Company of PNG. Prior to that, he was the managing director of Namabwan Super, a position he held for nine years.
Mr Aopi said during Mr Busken’s reign at Nambawan Super, he undertook a number of key business changes and in repositioning the fund with the assets of the public sector super fund increasing four fold to K3.1 billion.
“His experience and leadership will be a tremendous addition to our business, especially as Oil Search continues to deliver on the numerous growth options ahead of us,” Mr Aopi said.
