Lauta Cup Tournament Kicks Off In Buka

The Lauta Cup Tournament for this festive season has officially kicked off today in Buka, Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

North Bougainville MP, Lauta Atoi, said he wants to see a peaceful festivity, and for youths to be engaged in meaningful activities.

Meanwhile, Bougainville Football Association President, Justin Helele, has praised the North Bougainville MP for this initiative.

Helele said this will develop sportsmanship in the autonomous region and raise more awareness on peace and reconciliation on the island

“I would like to thank Mr Atoi for committing K50,000 towards the Lauta Cup Tournament,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bougainville Football Association Vice President, Peter Tareasi, and the Secretary for Autonomous Bougainville Government Community Development, Justin Borgia, also thanked the local MP for his contribution to promoting football in the autonomous region.

The four day event kicked off today in Buka.
