A Successful Year For PNG LNG Project

by Meriba Tulo – EM TV News, Port Moresby

2015 has been a successful year for the PNG LNG Project, with lead operator ExxonMobil PNG continuously improving the way it does business.

One of the biggest successes has been the amount of no loss time, something that the company is proud of.

This year the project has achieved 56 million hours of no loss-time injury – an impressive feat according to EMPNG Managing Director, Andrew Barry.

“If you put that into perspective, it’s like one person working 28,00 years without taking a single day off work because of a workplace injury”

He adds this is an indication of the level of commitment to safety that the company continues to have – which in turn has also impacted the overall level of safety within the oil and gas sector in PNG.

“We’re having an impact on the way other business are doing work, and lifting safety standards, because at the end of the day, what is so important to us is that anyone who is on our site goes home in the same condition that they came to work in.”
