Airline Workers Confident

By Fabian Hakalits – EM TV News, Lihir

Airline workers at the Lihir Airport in New Ireland Province are confident they can deliver professional customer services to travelling passengers, on any aircraft fleet that services this sector.

With more training on aviation safety with passenger and cargo handling, this will lift their standards of professionalism.

The airline workers now have a clear and broader knowledge about the operational requirements and safety standards of PNG Air’s new ATR 72-600 aircraft.

Yesterday, staff from the company’s headquarters in Port Moresby conducted a safety talk session for the workers.

With New Crest Mining Limited being a major client to PNG Air, Airport Operations Manager, Mike Wells, said it was important for both parties to ensure safety remains priority.

“We must be safety first,” he said.

The staff also underwent hands on experience on the aircraft and displayed professionalism in quality principals to ensure continuous success of this ATR.

Meanwhile, the people of New Ireland acknowledged PNG Air for the achievement in upgrading their aircraft that will enable them to travel at a more affordable cost.

EMTV News spoke to Mary-Anne Kawi Lavarabin who said it worthy to fly with PNG Air now.

“I fly with PNG Air and thank them for upgrading their aircrafts to cater for the demand and also for passengers who now have a choice,” she said.
