Badili Police Station Gets New Commander

by Vasinatta Yama – EM TV, Port Moresby

Inspector Tony Kavan has been named as the new Badili Police Station Commander (PSC).

Badili station held a parade today to officially farewell their outgoing Commander, Bill Wareka. The change comes after a nationwide restructure in the constabulary.

The outgoing PSC urged officers to maintain discipline, a standard that he will leave behind, and respect the law, and the rights of citizens.

Wareka said that in the past, Badili, Koki and Sabama were flagged as red zones in the city.

However, in his six years of commanding Badili he said crime rates have been reduced by 45 per cent.

Some of the project initiatives he started are the community development committee, foot beat patrols, and the community policing volunteers program.

The outgoing PSC will still be stationed at Badili.

New PSC, Kavan, did not want to make empty promises, but he pledged to continue the good work left behind by his colleague.
