Rugby League Boost

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Earlier in the year, the announcement that Papua New Guinea is to be a co-host at the next Rugby League World Cup in 2017 came as a boost, for not only rugby league fans, but the sporting community as well.

With the National Football Stadium to be completed next year, local rugby league competitions will have the opportunity to play on a proper world class facility.

Also, the NFS will be the home ground for the PNG hunters, which will be a boost for the team going into next year’s season of the Intrust Super Cup.

The national football stadium will also be used as a venue for the Under 20 Women’s World Cup here in Port Moresby. The facility is one of the many new sporting venues that will provide an avenue to elevate sport in the country.
