PNG Muay Thai Fighter on Quest to Compete in World Titles

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

PNG Muay Thai fighter, Lee “Flash” Garap, is on a quest to creating history in the World Sport of Muay Thai.

He has been given the opportunity to contest all three World Welterweight Muay Thai Titles on offer.

That dream can become a reality if he secures the sponsors needed to stage the fight in PNG next year.

Lee Garap and Rickson Yamo are two Muay Thai fighters on a mission to fight in the Pro World Welter Weight Title, and they are one step closer with the support of K15,000 each.

“We are always supporting team sports but I can honestly say that individual sports men and women find it difficult to secure sponsorship.”

“Through the Sports Enhancement fund we have allocated K500,000 and this fund will be used for sports development in the city where opportunity to development young people is limited.”

NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, says the sports enhancement fund will be fully utilised for sports development in the city.

He says, it is a pathway to create opportunities for young people to develop social attribute and character.

Sports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, was pleased with the efforts of the two fighters.
