Improving Education Services in East Yangoru

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

The push to improve education services in East Yangoru in the East Sepik province is seeing progress.

Local MP, Richard Maru, opened a new two-in-one classroom for Jawia Primary School recently.

Mr Maru said education is important and the building of classrooms adds value to give opportunity to children.

The classroom is expected to address the rise in student enrolment experienced in the district. This sees more children being encouraged to attend school and attain education qualifications.

Locals say the building is a resource children must utilise. Local leaders called for parents to pay school fee portion and be helpful in sending children to school. They say people at the village can now experience and see services in parts of the district.

The classroom cost K70,000 through the Yangoru-Saussia Joint District Budget Priority Committee.

The classroom comes as more roads in the district open-up.

MP Maru said roads are vital as people understand and make land available for roads, schools and health services.
