The coordinator of the Southern leg of the Coca Cola Ipatas Cup, slated for February 2nd, wants to see more Central province teams taking part.
James Ngune wants Central province to take the lead and be more involved in the competition.
So far, eight teams have been registered for the competition.
Twelve teams will commence the competition, with more emphasis on having teams from Central province.
Ngune says that unlike previous years, the Southern leg of the Coca Cola Ipatas Cup is looking far and wide with Central province.
Last year, Lakwaharu and Mairi Eagles were the only two teams from Central province who participated.
Having the Enga Governor Grand Chief Peter Ipatas, as well as leading soft drink manufacturer Coca Cola backing the competition, the last 16 years are signs of commitment to notch up the level of competition as it makes its priority known – the talent search mission.
Unbeaten NCD Governors Cup champions, the Hohola Freeway Bumpers are up for the challenge, while newcomers Woroko Bust, with players from the Port Moresby Rugby league Butterflies and Kaugere young guns, are hoping to be a season changer.
