Opposition Leader Belden Namah and Deputy Leader Sam Basil visited the Skotchio Cocoa Plantation Project and the Rural Housing Project in Bewani Sandaun Province recently.
The Opposition Leaders said government services are vital to encourage our citizens at border areas to feel and remain PNG citizens.
However during the visit, Mr Namah said, due to lack of interest by successive governments, more than fifteen thousand people have crossed over to the Indonesian side.
Mr Namah said the Border Development Authority has lost focused and ventured away from core functions causing people to seek better services in Indonesia.
Deputy Opposition Leader, Sam Basil said that it was unusual standing at the border without any government officers and programs insight. Border areas are important to National Security as well as pride and Government must focus its programs to border areas.
Mr Basil and the Border Development Authority is embarking on poorly designed and scoped housing and office facilities at Wutung Border facilities.
The Housing and Cocoa Project are twenty meters from the PNG and West Papua Border.
