Laloki: Lareba Community Address Law & Order

An initiative to address law and order by the Lareba community in the Laloki area was launched yesterday.

An alliance was made between the Community, the Laloki Police and the Bomana Correctional Institution to address law and order problems in the area.

The area is well known for its many criminal activities. This will be the first time the community will be cooperating with law enforcers to address law and order problems in the area.

The action taken by the Lareba community to address law and order problems in their area was initiated by community leader, Rommuari Gutumui.

This was after his trip to Australia where he realized how safe it was in the neighborhoods there, compared to his own community back home.

Mr. Gutumui said this will be his community’s New Year’s resolution. Therefore, when he came home, he organized his community to take action on the ongoing law and order problems that has given the Goilala people a bad reputation.

Youths, as well as women’s representatives expressed their concerns.

Law enforcers present were officers from the Bomana Correctional Institution and also a Police representative from the Nebiri Police.

Officer Cletus Kavi confirmed that law and order problems in the area were a major concern and that the police are now on it.

Chief Superintendent, Haraha Keko, of the Bomana Correctional Institution told the community that law and order is everyone’s concern, and not only the law enforcers.

The community is now looking forward to working with the law enforcing parties to surrender any law breakers in their community.
