Yagama Reiterates he’s Still MP

Member for Usino-Bundi, Anton Yagama reiterated to the people of Usino-Bundi that he is still the member representing them in Parliament.

Mr Yagama says, his contempt charge last week Friday by Justice Cannings of the National Court does not disqualify him but still allows him to exercise his power as an MP.

He was accompanied by Madang Governor Jim Kas to Enikwai village in the Rai Coast District to present a reply to a petition by landowners in the Ramu NiCo project over alleged missing of benefits.

Mr Yagama has appealed to the Supreme Court on his sentencing and will serve the people of Usino-Bundi to deliver vital services.

Mr Yagama was sentenced to nine months on Friday last week with his political rival and businessman, Peter Yama (9 months) after being convicted after trial of two counts of contempt of court; failing to take adequate steps to prevent his supporters and associates for threatening or inciting physical violence and failing to prevent his supporters and associates for disturbing peace of the precincts of the National Court.

Mr Yagama said he has appealed to the Supreme Court on his sentencing but still remains an active Member of Parliament and will still serve the people of Usino-Bundi.
