Polye Asked to Stop Playing Petty Politics

A State Minister has been told to stop playing petty politics at the district level.

Wabag MP, Robert Ganim, told Kandep MP and Treasury Minister, Don Polye, to work with him, rather than visiting Mr. Ganim’s district and making big commitments without the Joint District Planning (JDP) and Budgetary Priority Committee’s (BPC) knowledge.

Mr. Ganim’s remarks follow reports that the minister had committed K100 million to the Rakamanda Peace Restoration Process, and the Wabag Chicken Project.

Mr. Ganim said Minister Polye had already rubbed salt in the wounds of the ongoing political infighting in the electorate between former Wabag MP, Sam Abal, and himself.

He expressed disappointment about the minister’s recent visit and appearances in Rakamanda, where he supposedly committed K100 million to assist the Rakamanda Peace and Restoration Process.

He also queried his intention to fund the Wabag Chicken Project.

He said no members of his JDP and BPC were advised of these commitments, before the minister made them to the people.

Minister Polye denied making any commitments during his visit to Rakamanda and the Chicken project site.

Mr. Polye also denied any political involvement with the former MP.

The Minister went on and talked about public-private partnership, and how funds allocated for these programs can be utilized to assist the Rakamanda Peace and Restoration Process.

He also urged Mr. Ganim to work with fellow Engan MPs and the National Government to deliver vital services to his district.

In the meantime all government funded projects initiated by the former Wabag MP, Sam Abal, are on hold which include projects such as the Wabag market, Chicken Project, Maramuni road, Lakolam DPI, Police and Health Center Projects.

Mr. Abal has taken a restraining order to prevent the current MP, Robert Ganim, from developing these and other government funded projects his government had initiated.
