The PNG Defense Force hierarchy, accompanied by the Metropolitan Superintendent, has cleared the roads leading to the Kirakira village this morning.
The disciplinary forces cleaned up the mess on the road created by themselves, and the villagers last week, following the murder of a soldier.
Villagers refused them; however, following a compromise, they were left to open the freeway.
Following the alleged murder of a soldier last week, and the burning down of some 9 houses at the Kirakira village, this freeway between Manu auto port and Kirakira village was blocked off using tall rain trees, sticks, stones, broken bottles and other metal objects.
Soldiers from Taurama and Murray Barracks led by their commanders came in truck loads and cleaned up the mess this morning.
They cleaned up all the way down to the entrance of the village, where they met opposition.
The villagers argued that the freeway was not to be opened until their demands are met.
The hierarchy and village elders came to a compromise and the soldiers were left to clean up the freeway, and open it to the public.
The traveling public, including the villagers, can now have access to the freeway, however, there are arguments about when the PNGDF hierarchy, Defense minister and concerned authorities, going to action their promise, to rebuild the burned houses.
