Abel on Alotau’s DSIP Funds

The upgrade of Digicel Towers from 2G to 3G networks in the Suau LLG and Daga LLG follows a first of its kind partnership between Digicel and Alotau District.

Each tower costing K500, 000 from DSIP funds will provide the people of the remote Agaun and Fife Bay villages with faster internet connections.

Member for Alotau, Charles Abel also launched a new K2.7million Jetty on Suau Island as part of his plans to improve transport networks in the District. Funded from LLGSIP and DSIP funds, the Member announced that four boats were also launched to service the people of Alotau.

Mr. Abel also said he plans to put in more jetty’s and link feeder roads and main roads to coastal areas. This will be made possible through SIP and other PIP funding through the Government.

While launching these projects in his district, the Member challenged LLG’s to take charge of these assets the Government is providing to them.
