Rai Coast Secondary School Subsidy Missing

Substantial amount of government subsidy money belonging to Rai Coast Secondary School, in Madang province went missing and not been accounted for to date.

The stunning report was revealed by the schools headmaster, Mr. Ernest Saweang to the local MP, James Gau and Madang Provincial Education Advisor, Moses Sariki including stakeholders.

Mr. Saweang claimed the government subsidy designated for 2013’s school operation was deposited into Transgogol High School bank account instead of Rai Coast High School bank account.

Headmaster Saweang said, Bank statement of Transgogol High School showed that it was deposited into Rai Coast High School account but the actual money was not in the account.

Consequently, Mr. Saweang said Rai Coast High School has not been able to erect any project for 2013 academic year and was operating under a very strict budget.

Local MP, James Gau urged the school to fast track in recouping the money and describes the cause as failure in administrative procedures.

Police investigation is under way with the officers in charge of the payment while a second payment of two hundred thirty thousand has been paid directly to Rai Coast Secondary School.
