Teachers and students in a remote school in the Telefomin district, Sandaun Province will soon be able to teach and learn using modern equipment like computers and projectors, all thanks to the Ok Tedi Development Foundation.
According to their official site, the Foundation is an independent, not for profit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Papua New Guinea.
Eliptamin Primary School will be the first school in Telefomin District to use electronic teaching and learning equipment powered by solar.
The good news was announced by the Ok Tedi Development Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Ian Middleton, at the Eliptamin Primary School on Friday during the delivery and launching of a walkabout sawmill by local MP, Solan Mirisim.
Middleton called on teachers to respect the young children, and to give more focus on young girls and train them and prepare them well to pursue further studies.
