A man from Yangoru in East Sepik Province, Jason Kuama, is out on K1,000 bail after he was charged for two counts of false pretense and stealing.

Senior Magistrate, Cosmas Bidar, at the Waigani Committal Court granted bail on conditions that Kuama must remain in Port Moresby and attend court at all times.

Kuama was alleged to have stolen over K60,000 belonging to another man.

Kuama was working as an Editorial artist at a Media company in Port Moresby when he allegedly stole the money.

On March 2014, Kuama got a cheque valued K60,500.00, belonging to Paio Bale, and deposited it into the bank account of a construction company.

The construction company is owned by a man from Central Province.

The Court heard that the company owner may have had some deals with Kuama, that he gave Kuama his account number.

Because of the act, Kuama was charged for false pretence.

After the cheque was deposited, Kuama got all the money and was alleged to have used it.

The Court also charged him for stealing.

However, he was granted bail under conditions that he remains in Port Moresby; he must not interfere with the course of justice, and must attend his court case.

He will appear for mention on March 22.
