The National Court in Lae today sentenced couple, Regina and Gedion Biton, to twenty-five years with hard labour for sexually abusing a thirteen year old girl.
The court heard that the couple, Regina and Gedion Biton, in 2014 acted against the concerns of a thirteen year old girl and forced her into having sex with Regina’s husband.
Gedion Biton now in his fifties, in numerous counts forced the minor to engage in sexual activities with the victim.
Presiding Judge, Frazer Pitpit, sentenced Regina Biton to twenty-five years with hard labour. Fifteen years was suspended from the twenty-five years; she will be serving ten years in prison.
In the meantime her husband, Gedion Biton, will serve twenty-five years with hard labour.
The court deducted two years that he had been in custody; he will be serving 23 years with hard labour.
