Momote Airport Fencing Agreement

Momote airport in Manus province will soon have a fence – to be constructed at a cost of K6.4 million.

National Airports Corporation, together with Kaulong Estate signed an agreement today to mark the start of this project.

Under this agreement, Momote Airport will receive an installation of security fencing by national contractor, Kaulong Estate Limited at a cost of K6.4 million.

This project was funded by the Asian Development Bank under the Civil Aviation Investment Development called CADIT the implementing agency in the country.

The Acting CEO said as far as national participation is concerned, a nationally own company is breaking grounds in the international arena thus, taking part in international bidding for an ADB funded project.

He congratulated the company for taking this initiative.

CADIT Program Director, Manuai Kametan, said since the program was introduced in 2010 more than 15 contracts have been awarded to foreign companies.

He said contracts have been awarded above that level thus, this is the first time a contract was awarded to a nationally owned company.

Kaulong Estate Managing Director, Francis Maneke, thanked CADIT and NAC for awarding the contract to the company.

The company started in Kimbe as a SME contractor for more than 10 years especially in the Oil Palm Industry.
