By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

The last leg of the Youth Regional Consultation Workshop has ended but the fight to give hope to youths in the country is far from over.

Acting Director General of the National Youth Development Authority Norit Luio says, the authority wants to work with provincial governments to roll out support programs. Mr Luio told participants that youths must now be at the centre of all level of government to support work of governments and church based organisations.

Mr Luio says, alarming figure of youths are now left roaming the streets and that figure is growing everyday. Luio said the National Youth Development Authority is now on a mission to roll-out beneficial and life skill trainings through the Youth Friendly Centre concept.

The Acting Director General says the inclusion of youths must be taken seriously as alarming number of youths drop-out from school with no attempt to further their education.

Participants from Southern Region provinces attended the 3 day workshop calling for districts and provincial governments to support, empower and upskill youths in the country.

NYDA will be conducting similar workshop in other regional centres around the country.
