A combined manhunt operation comprising locals, police and Correctional Service staff in Manus, on Saturday, has resulted to the recapturing of Joshua Kulivia.
Joshua Kulivia, has since become the most wanted man on Manus Island after he escaped from the Manus CS prison late last month.
He was found guilty by the National Court in Manus for killing Reza Berati, an Iranian refugee, during a violent riot at the Manus Regional Processing Centre in February 2014.
He was held in police custody awaiting his sentencing when he escaped.
Manus acting provincial police commander, Senior Inspector David Yapu, said the special operation team was tipped-off by locals that lead to the capture of Kulivia.
Senor Inspector Yapu expressed satisfaction over the combine efforts of locals, police and CS officers during the manhunt.
Joshua Kulivia had appeared in court earlier today where he received his jail sentence.
