Teachers in Middle Ramu, Madang, will soon have accommodation to live in according to Middle Ramu MP, Tommy Tomscoll.
Tomscoll said he has decided, in collaboration with his District Development Authority (DDA), to purchase kit homes for the teachers.
He presented a cheque for K490,600 to the PNG Forest Products to supply the kit homes.
This initiative will fall in line with the soon to be constructed Kovon High School, that will replace the Simbai High School.
Landowners in Kovon have agreed for their land to become state land for the proposed infrastructure, which will benefit 30,000 people in the area
“Six of the houses will go towards teacher’s houses, one will go to accommodating the Coffee Industry Corporation Manager in the District and the other house will go to the Cocoa Board of Papua New Guinea, where an officer of the board will work in the District,” Tomscoll said
“That also spells out the priority of development in my district, the kind of growth and future I would like my community to walk towards to.
That is in education, empowering people with money in coffee and cocoa. These are the two main projects that we produce,” he added.
