To Inspire, To Excel – Slogan For 2016 U20 WWC

By Jeremy Mogi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

‘To Inspire, To Excel’ is the slogan for the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup, to be held in Papua New Guinea this November.

This was unveiled last night by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, in front of diplomatic guests and FIFA delegates at the official emblem and slogan launch in Port Moresby.

In front of FIFA Executive Vice President and the head PNG Football, David Chung, the Prime Minister also spoke of recognising PNG’s changing image.

The Prime Minister urged Papua New Guineans to remain confident in the government, as they strive to focus on the development of the country and its people.

This was in slight contrast however to PNG Football Association President David Chung, who, when thanking the government made mention of the historic opportunity that PNG had grasped by taking part in an international event of this magnitude.

That fact was not lost on Sport Minister, Justin Tkatchenko. Chief Executive Officer of the local organising committee, Seamus Marten, who were both unable to contain their enthusiasm over the statemen’s made during the launch.

While the slogan indicates inspiration, the emblem was resplendent in the traditional colours of Papua New Guinea, with the concept of all four regions of the nations being represented and united by one common goal.
