The Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PNGEITI) has thanked outgoing Total E&P Managing Director Philippe Blanchard for his contribution to the PNGEITI through the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) – the body that oversees EITI implementation in the country.

From a press statement this afternoon (August 20), Head of PNGEITI Secretariat Mr Lucas Alkan said Blanchard’s contribution at (MSG) level in his capacity as Managing Director of Total E&M PNG was valuable.

“Mr Blanchard represented Total well at the MSG and on behalf the members of the MSG I thank him for his valuable contribution to EITI implementation in this country-especially when EITI was at its infantry stages,” Mr Alkan said.

“Total’s commitment to the EITI process in the country demonstrate to the Government and the people of Papua New Guinea that the company has come with the spirit of transparency and accountability that we strive to nurture in the extractive industry in Papua New Guinea.

“The considerable progress we’ve made so far in implementing EITI in this country speaks of the utilization of combined expertise and advice of leaders like Mr Blanchard at the MSG pool”.

“PNGEITI wish him every success in this next career move”.

“As Philippe makes his exit, we hope to welcome a new Total E&M PNG representative at the PNGEITI MSG and we look forward to that.” he said.
