The man who was arrested and charged for sexually abusing his sister in-law appeared at the Lae District Court today for his second hearing.
39-year-old Robin Borezi was apprehended by Lae Police in January and was charged with rape, deprivation of liberty and two counts of unlawful wounding.
A decision was supposed to be made today, however, Magistrate Edward Kupo said that the two counts of unlawful wounding were identical, and the prosecutors have to distinguish these charges before a decision can be made.
Borezi was arrested for sexually abusing and torturing his sister-in-law for several months. The abuse went on unreported because he threatened to kill her and hurt her children if she went to the police; he went further to mutilating her private parts during this period.
Borezi is being remanded at the Buimo Prison and will appear in court on May 9, 2018.
