Health Secretary, Pascoe Kase released a statement today (16/06/17) saying valuable medical supplies are on their way to key hospitals who have been reporting shortages.
Mr Kase said the Government has provided considerable help for central agencies to free up access to resources which allowed for faster payments to medical supply contractors. While urgent supplies were flown to Mount Hagen yesterday (15/06/17).
The other centres to follow will include, Kundiawa, Alotau, Wewak, Rabaul, Madang and Lae’s Angau Memorial Hospital. Secretary Kase said other shipments will be for other centres throughout the country, until there is adequate supply for all hospitals.
Secretary Kase noted that these were the first of a number of urgent shipments which had been organised and which would continue over the next week until all hospitals had sufficient stock.
He repeated his thanks to the Government for providing support for the urgent action and also to the Medical Supply Companies who could not have done more to assist and support the public health system.
