Team PNG Fun Day

The Fun Day was organised by the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee through the PNG Athletes Commission.  The participating athletes came in numbers with their various teammates to enjoy the day.

It also saw exhibitors from different corporate organisations like PNG High Performance, Institute of Business Studies, the Electoral Commission and ExxonMobil.

The information provided was necessary to an athlete’s career pathways, development and welfare, Olympic values, anti-doping, and life after sports.

Also present at the event, was Guard Your Coast team, Voice Inc, and the United Nations, supporting the international Sustainable Development Goals.

Former Cricket Captain, and member of the PNG Athletes Commission, Chris Amini, said, it was good to see athletes take part in the program, to acquire information related to sports development, and carrier pathways.

Athletes also played volleyball, basketball and rugby touch matches as part of the fun day.

With 2017 around the corner, PNG Athletes Commission is looking forward to a busier year. In the next year, they will prepare the athletes for their national and regional tournaments.

A another big event also, dubbed the Grass Roots Games in Kimbe, the 7th BSP PNG games, will see sports men and women from 21 different provinces in the country converge for top spots.

Mr. Amini also said that PNG Athletes Commission is there for all athletes, especially the sports men and women who play at community levels. It will assist in stepping up their game, and looking for opportunities. The aim is to  play at a high standard.
