PORT MORESBY, July 5 – New Caledonia will be aiming to dominate again on the tennis courts at the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games as it returns many players to defend titles across five events.

New Caledonia players had wins in the men’s and women’s singles and team events and the mixed doubles at Noumea 2011.

Nickolas Ngodrela (NCL) is returning to defend his title in the men’s singles, and in mixed doubles Anaéve Pain (NCL) and Maxime Chazal (NCL) will be back and looking to repeat.

Pain was also 2011 silver medallist in the women’s singles.

Sisters Marcia Tere-Apisah (PNG) and Abigail Tere-Apisah (PNG) will be back to defend their title in the women’s doubles.

Abigail also won the bronze medal in women’s singles in 2011.

One member of the defending champions in men’s doubles, Leon So’onalole (SAM), is back, but with a new partner who he hopes will give him a shot at another gold medal in that event.

In the team event, many of the players who won medals of varying colours four years ago will be back on the court to compete in Port Moresby.

With so many players returning to defend their titles, not only will there be some good tennis but there is bound to be a few upsets too.

Tennis will be played over a 11 days at the Port Moresby Racquets Club starting on July 6, 2015.
