The funeral service of late Justice Catherine Davani’s commenced today at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Port Moresby.
Families, fellow judges, members of the Law and Justice Sector and friends attended the funeral mass.
Late Justice Catherine Davani’s passing was a great loss to her families, the legal fraternity and those who stood beside her through thick and thin times.
Catherine was born on June 3, 1960 to police officer John and Jacinta Kodana in the Wau Bulolo District of Morobe Province.
Reading her eulogy, son Alexander John Davani described late Catherine as a special partner and mum to their father and husband, John and siblings Reginald, Peter, Cecil and Alexander respectively.
Paying tribute, Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia described Justice Davani as a dedicated judge who served with distinction and honor in both National and Supreme Court jurisdictions.
Apart from her job, Davani was also a sport ambassador who contributed to the development of football in Papua New Guinea.
The casket of the Late Judge will spend the night at the Boroko family home before she is laid to rest at 9 Mile Cemetery outside of Port Moresby.
