The National Court dismissed the case of 8 Chinese Nationals accused of counterfeiting the SP PNG Hunters trademark, belonging to the PNGRFL.
Justice Panuel Mogish ruled that evidence presented were insufficient on legal grounds that the trademarks are not registered.
The 8 Chinese appearing for trial today are: Zhuang Weiqiang,Lioa Sumin,Chuancheng Wu, Cheng,Emma Zhuang,Yan Jinping,Yan Kunxiang, Chen Chaohui.
They were charged under section 477 (2) b of the criminal code for producing counterfeit products that bore the SP PNG Hunters trademark.
It is understood that in 2015, they allegedly embroided the counterfeit trademark on shirts, and sold them in the Erimart group of stores in Port Moresby.
They were committed to court on 25th of November 2015 by the complainant, PNGRFL, who claims ownership to the logos.
Dismissing the case, Justice Mogish says it was a waste of time to take these people to court.
They court advised for the return of their bail money and passports that was confiscated.
