PNG AFL Under 16 Benatangs brought homethe South Pacific Cup from Townsville, Australia.
Also 15 boys have been named inthe AFL South Pacific Team.
The success ofthe team has been attributed tothe Port Moresby AFL Competition which kicked off overthe weekend.
The official launch ofthe 2013 BeP AFL season took place atthe Amini Park with major sponsors BeP’statingthe obvious – CEO Ian Clyne, former coach ofthe Beroko Bembers inthe AFL Port Moresby Competition.
Coinciding withthe Australian week, AFL enthusiasts packedthe Amini Park to withnessthe opening match betweenthe Southern and Nothern Kupundas.
More pleasing and a great way to markthe official launch wasthe player ofthe match between Gordons Kokofas and Uni Tigers scoring a return ticket to Australia courtesy of Qantas Link andthe Australian High Commission.
This year’s competition is sure to see increased hype and action with 10 Teams taking part inthe AFL competition including Gerehu Magpies, Taurama, Uni Tigers and Gordons Kokofas
The Port Moresby AFL premiere competition has grown over 4 years and its everPNG AFL player’s ultimate goal to play senior football.
The AFLPNG Under16 Benatangs were also present to celebratetheir undefeated performance in Townsville recently.
