After a disappointing opener against AS Central of Tahiti last week, where they lost by 3 points to 7, Madang FC redeemed themselves last evening against Lupe Ole Soaga of Samoa, with a 4 – 3 win.

Despite conceding a number of goals, MFC held off the Samoan outfit, till the final whistle.

It was a must-win match for Madang FC last evening when they faced Lupe Ole Soaga.

But the Samoan side did not let the win come to the Madang guys easily.

And to reinforce how hard a win is going to be for Madang, the opening goal came from Samoa through Cherbel Khouchaba in just the third minute.

A Patrick Aisa strike, two minutes later leveled the scoreline at 1 all.

By the 13th minute, Madang FC was leading by a point, courtesy of Stahl Gubag.

And later attempts at goal from Lupe Ole Soaga went begging till half time.

The second half saw both sides regrouped and ready for battled as it was still anyone’s game at that point.

Kouchaba and Lapalapa Toni’s combination saw them in the lead again with 3 points to MFC’s 2.

However, their slightest show of exhaustion, gave Madang the opening to attack.

In a space of five minutes, Michael Tole leveled the scoreline at 3 all, and Samuel Kini added the final touch, that set the score line to 4 points to 3 in favor of Madang FC.

The score remained unchanged till fulltime.

They will take on host and currently ranked number one, New Caledonia’s AS Magenta on Friday.
