Zion Zeal Christian School is a permitted private school located at Waigani in the nation’s capital, Port Moresby.
Yesterday, the Waigani chapter held its last sports day for the term, just like other schools in the city before the children go for their term break.
Parents, students and teachers were all dressed up in their respective house colours and met up at the field to enjoy the day’s sporting activities. The house colours are red for Abraham, blue for Noah, orange for Moses and green for Adam.
Activities of the day included running races, field events and ball games.
Grades from Elementary to Grade Three were allowed to take part in the sporting activities while the children in Kindergarten were not able to join in the field, however, they enjoyed their day indoors with their own arranged games.
Despite the hot sun, the children and the teachers enjoyed the day with shouts from each team, supporting their participating members.
Principle of the school Mr Warika, during the parents and children meeting on Wednesday, said “sports play an important role in a child’s development” and he urged all parents to support their children by attending the sports day.”
He further added that’sport was part of the students’ assessment.
Yesterday, parents joined in with the school’s sports day to support their children. The children were all looking bright and happy in their sports uniforms and enjoyed the day. When all the activities were completed, the children were sent home.
