Youths Injured in Shoot-out

Twelve youths from Tatana Village have been hospitalized and two are in critical condition, following a shootout by Guard Dog Securities overthe weekend.

The incident occurred between 6:00am and 7.30 am when a delivery vehicle was held up by youth believed to be intoxicated with alcohol alongthe road throughthe village.

Guard Dog security wasthe escort tothe delivery van and got into a fight withthe youths.

The Securities alertedtheir base resulting in more than one guard dog security vehicle storming throughthe village with high powered firearms shooting at youths who trlied to retaliate.

Port Moresby Station Commander,Inspector Robert Kurei saidthe actions ofthe security guards were uncalled for.

Local Member and health Minister Michael Malabag was atthe scene to calmthe situation and strongly condemnedthe actions ofthe securities.

Guard Dog Operations Manager is fully aware ofthe situation and will assistthe police to carry out investigation to find out which security officers were involved and brought to justice.
