Royal Papua Yacht Club kicked off its fun sailing today with participating members of the sailing club. Both members and volunteered participants gathered at the club to take to the sea their sailing yachts.
Sailing enthusiasts of the club had a fantastic day while taking it slow under the sun.
The event started at 9am; the juniors sailed off first, followed by the adults. This will be the first event for the year with many more to come. With great weather in the sky, sailors enjoyed the ride while sitting under the shadows of the sail.
Yacht club has 300 members on board, both local and international. Many of the members are attached to the Sport and certainly love and enjoy the atmosphere. The sailing attracted a few sailing fans to the area to take a glimpse of some fantastic sailing action, and for those who were part of the fun sailing day certainly enjoyed the heat of Port Moresby while taking part in the event
Some of the sailors took on board, partners, friends, kids and even the whole family to have some fun and laughter
Organizer Diana Bassett extends an invitation to those interested in sailing to join their sailing club or even to those wanting become members of the Royal Papua Yacht club to simply visit their website or head on to Yacht club in down town, Port Moresby.
Bassett says there’s room for everyone, and if you’re looking for a fun and friendly time, why not come and volunteer at the sailing club and feel what it’s like to be a sailor.
While the sailing organizers are focused on today’s event they are also working behind the scenes for the next proper sailing event next weekend.
