General Manager of the Royal Papua Yacht Club, Aaron Batts, said the attendance for last week’s Yacht race was a success.
He said it was good to see young children participate in their respective events.
He said each year the number keeps increasing, and that more people are looking at applying as members.
Local communities are also being involved through the Learn to Sail programs, with increasing interest.
He added that this year the country is yet to see two of their biggest events. Preparations for the two events are underway, and Mr Batts says this is their current focus.
The events are the 3 Peaks Race in May, and the Coral Sea Classics.
Batts describes that the best is yet to come.
While the 3 Peaks Race will take place in Port Moresby, the Coral Sea Classics will be an event to look out for, as the race is from Cairns and Port Moresby, starting from Cairns and finishing the race in Port Moresby.
This will be the biggest event that residents in Cairns and Port Moresby will be participating in, and already expectations are looking promising.
