WORK ON LOWER LAI ROAD CONTINUES

By Mortimer Yangharry

The progress of the rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion of the Wapenamanda to Lower Lai Road in the Wapenamanda Rural LLG of Enga Province has been consistent with minimal disruptions since work started early last year.

Wapenamanda Open MP and Vice Minister for Works and Highways Miki Kaeok expressed confidence that the rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion of this vital road link will be thoroughly covered and completed on time.

“I sincerely acknowledge the technical support and assistance from the Department of Works since work began last year,” Kaeok said.

He further acknowledged the technical team from the Works and Technical Unit from the Enga Provincial Government for supervising and leading the civil works and associated roadworks with about 45 kilometers of roadworks already done where the sketch of road is actually more than 70 kilometers altogether.

The Wapenamanda District Development Authority plans to further join Lower Lai in Wapenamanda to Baiyer in the Western Highlands Province which will be funded by the National Government through the Connect PNG Program.

The Lower Lai constituency borders the Kompiam LLG in the Kompiam Ambum District and Baiyer in the Western Highlands Province respectively.
