Women of Hope Ministry, a non-government organization, yesterday donated food and clothes to settlers from the Baruni dump in the Nation’s Capital.
Founder of the Ministry, Mrs. Veronica Charlie, with members of the Ministry, took time out to spend with women, and children, and to share the word of God with.
Women of Hope was founded five years ago by Veronica Charlie, with the aim to look at orphans, mothers with problems, and mothers with HIV/AIDS.
Mrs. Charlie who once lived in the area, said she knew how hard life is for women and children, and by giving this gifts of clothes and food, she hopes to lessen that burden.
She says the ministry is very involved with women and children, and has over three thousand members, who actively take part in helping others in need.
Care centers have already been established at Rigo and Pari, and is home to more than twenty women and children. So far more than fifteen children have been taken off the streets, and put to school.
She said the ministry has been reaching out to women and children on the streets, providing them with breakfast and lunch, and preaching the word of God to them.
Yesterday’s donation of food and clothes was not the first for the ministry, and Mrs. Charlie says, she will continue to do what she does, and hopes to open more centers in the country.
She currently receives funding from the National Gaming Board, Waterfront Food World, and from fundraisings that the Ministry does.
