Weapons Confiscated

Lae police have confiscated a shotgun and a handgun from a security firm after security guards shot and injured two grade 12 students in Bumayong in Lae yesterday.

Police said the security guards tried to track down thieves who had stolen property and ended up shooting at members of the community.

Lae Metropolitan Superintendent, Chis Kunyanban, said the matter was reported but the security guards went ahead and tried to conduct arrests.

The two students are in hospital.

Police will also arrest the guards and have the the weapons deregistered.
