The quality of water in the Nation’s Capital will see improvement now that Eda Ranu has its own Microbiology Laboratory.
The lab is aimed to improve the quality of water and will test all water sources coming into Port Moresby from Mt Eriama.
The Lab also a significant step towards contributing to the National Government’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Policy (WASH Policy).
Eda Ranu CEO, Henry Mokono, described this as a significant step for the company.
Mokono said it will be showcased in the coming Pacific Water and Waste Conference to help other Pacific Nations achieve similar goals in providing quality water services.
While access to safe, sustainable water remains a problem in PNG, the Wash Policy is aiming to reduce that by developing evaluation systems and expand funding to build more infrastructures like the microbiology lab to enhance water quality.
The lab facility was funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at a cost K300,000.
