Stop and Shop Port Moresby Vipers are a fortnight closer to making a grand final appearance after defeating Mt Hagen Eagles in round 17 ofthe Digicel Cup challenge.
Viper’s hooker Charlie Wabo was named player ofthe match.
Vipers dashedthe hopes ofthe visiting Mt Hagen Eagles 34-22 at Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby, in what almost seemed like a win for the Eagles.
Eagles ledthe first half ofthe match with 16 points leaving home team trailing behind with 12.
The pressure was on as both teams went head to head inthe second half. Eagles Joe Joshua, Thompson Atep and Danny Aaron trlied in vain for their team and matched Vipers werethey could.
A change in tide saw Eagles ball handling errors give away opportunities tothe Vipers to snatch more tries to clinchthe lead.
Charlie Wabo was credited for his performance inthe game walking away with a much deserved man ofthe match award.
