Vava Claims Men’s Open in National Volleyball Championship

Vabukori Volleyball Association (VAVA) again made their mark as champions after defeating Hula yesterday in the National Volleyball Championship Men’s Open Division Grand Final.

This victory makes it their 12th consecutive year as reigning champions.

The grand final between Vava and Hula started off sluggish, before Vava let loose with a flurry of spikes that sent the Hula side scrambling.

Ten minutes into the first set, a Vava spike landed on the Hula side of the net, which brought the score count to 19 for both teams.

Five minutes later, the score was 25 – 16 in favor of the Vava’s.

The second set saw the Hula side, launching a comeback.

Every score from the Hula side was matched with a score from the Vava, before miscommunication from the Vava’s three blockers, left them at 23 points while, Hula scored two points and won the set.

Vava, responded strong in the third set, with some unblock able spikes, some convincing dummies, they secured the third set, 25 points to 13.

And that brought the crowd to their feet, as the Vava’s, proving to be unbeatable, went on and secured the final set with a 25 – 19 score line.
