Lack of accountability bythe University of Natural Resource and Environment has been blamed for the termination ofthe New Zealand Aid Scholarships for females studying agriculture.
Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology, David Arore’said this in parliament during question time yesterday while highlightingthe incapability of universities to account for funds received through donor funding.
He said this while responding to a question raised on whythe New Zealand AID scholarships for young women’s tudying atthe University of Natural Resources and Environment has been cancelled.
He saidthe university misappllied scholarship funds and did not comply withthe criteria established bythe donor agency.
Minister Arore’says he has instructedthe Office of Higher Education to investigatethe use ofthese funds.
The office will work closely withthe University council to establish wherethe funds have been exhausted resulting inthe termination ofthe scholarship.
He also promised to deal with those found guilty after all investigations are completed.
