Officers from First Battalion Royal Pacific Island Regiment Promoted

by Merilyn Diau-Katam – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The Papua New Guinea Defence Force will continue to promote officers who have served the state with loyalty.

Today, during the Commanding Officer’s End of the Year Parade, twelve officers were promoted to their new ranks.

These officers were from different companies; one from the Goldie River Barracks.

The Officers were presented their new badges by the parade host, First Battalion Royal Pacific Island Regiment, Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel, Edison Napyo, and also witnessed by their families and colleagues both from the PNG Defence Force and the Australian Defence Force.

Those promoted include a Lieutenant, seven Sergeants, a Corporal, a Lance Corporal, a Chief Ward Officer and a Ward Officer.

Some of them have served the army for over ten years.

Promotions are given to officers based on their performance; from Field, Barracks and Leadership skills, and are a boost to their duties.

Their new roles will be effective come 2016.
