PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka, says 2016 has been a good year for PNG Rugby League internationally, with our recent successes.
He has summed up the year saying the standard has improved.
Sandis Tsaka, says since the board was put in place in 2014, this also resulted in PNG’s first win after 20 years.
PNG played Tonga in Lae, Morobe province in 2014, beating them, 24 -16.
He says on the international front, the Kumuls win against Fiji has helped in PNG’s ranking.
Success at the international level has trickled down to the domestic competitions in the country.
Tsaka also spoke about the Hunters season, and commended Michael Marum, his coaching staff and the team, for making it into the finals in two consecutive years.
He also added, the Hunters program has been a success this year. The standard of Rugby League has improved this year; it is just violence in the sport that tarnishes the code.
PNGRFL will be looking into this matter to come up with solutions and penalties.
