PORT MORESBY, July 6 – There are three sisters from the Toua family competing at the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games, and so far they have four gold medals between them.
Elder sister and multi-event gold medallist Dika Toua won her latest gold in the women’s 53kg category at the PNG Power Dome on Sunday evening.
Now she is pleased to see her younger sisters Thelma and Konio following her lead, after Thelma collected three golds in the women’s 48kg earlier the same day.
“It’s overwhelming to have my small sisters having the same interest as I do in the same sport,” said Dika.
“I guess both Thelma and Konio are following in my footsteps and I know that they have great potential as weightlifters. I am pretty sure that they will be at the same level as I am one day.
“I want to encourage my sisters and the other weightlifters to keep striving and train hard and be better and reach the level I am in now,” Dika added.
