The continuous sabotage of Telikom fiber optic cables inthe nation’s capital has angered TelikoPNG’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Litau.
He says, this trend is costly tothe company and has resulted in many of its customers choosing ther competitors.
Telikom linesmen were hard at work yesterday repairingtheir fiber optic nerve cables. This isthe latest attack on Telikom’s infrastructure happened at 3am on Tuesday.
Cables at three separate locations along Waigani were intentionally sabotage.
The cables includedtheIntegrated GovernmentInformation system or IGIS which all government departments depend on for vital communication.
With every damage to Telikom’s cables, it loses over twenty-thousand kina in terms of data cost per second. And, it cost thirty to forty thousand kina to repair this cables.
Phone lines tothe government departments withinthe area will be fully restored bythe end of this week.
Telikom will increase its surveillance to prevent futher destruction to its properties.
